Activity: First start out with squares of Styrofoam. With a dull point, a dull pencil works best, create a flower. After the flower is created, pick out a color, you will then use a hard roller to cover the flower with paint. Be sure to not use to much paint that it spills into the divots. Press the flower design on to a white piece of paper. After all the flowers have been pressed onto a piece of paper, and dried, cut them out. Then glue them onto a piece of construction paper. Using a different piece of construction paper create a vase. Easiest way to do this is to fold the paper in half and create a shape. Unfold this and also glue it on to your piece of paper; decorate it if your wish. Lastly be sure to connect your flowers to the vase with green stems.
Extension: This is a great activity for a class, generally it would be a small class or the class would be split into groups. Have students each create one flower and students can go around and get a print from the other students to put into their pots. Its a great way for students to interact with each other, create community and who off their flower making abilities.
